Purpose and legal basis of the processing
On the application site of the International Max Planck Research School on Cellular Biophysics, all fields marked with * are mandatory. The gathered personal information at the site will be used to efficiently support the application and recruitment process. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6, para. 1, letter b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and § 26, paragraph 1 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). All fields which are not marked are optional. You can provide this information on a voluntary basis. The legal basis is your consent based on Article 6, paragraph 1, letter a of the GDPR. Consent is also the basis for the additional purpose of the processing of your data for statistical purposes by the International Max Planck Research School on Cellular Biophysics you apply for and those academic institutions, who are involved in the selection and evaluation process. Statistical evaluation of data will be anonymized and serves to improve our recruitment process.

General Information about your nationality, current place of residence, age, gender, highest degree with final grade, the university at which you completed this degree, GRE score (or score of similar tests) and how you got to know the International Max Planck Research School on Cellular Biophysics will furthermore be processed for statistical reasons / evaluation purposes. These purposes also include our legitimate interest in data processing pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO which is the legal basis therefore.
If faculty members of the International Max Planck Research School on Cellular Biophysics enter data for their research profiles, this data is accessible to the public. The research profiles contain information about the faculty members’ institutional affiliation and their research topics, furthermore their contact information, and a picture. Faculty members enter and manage the information themselves and are hence responsible for the content of their profiles. The profiles are visible to registered users but also non-registered visitors of the IMPRS-CBP OpenCampus webpage. They serve to inform about the program, its faculty, and research topics.
Data recipients and categories of data recipients
Processing of your personal details is carried out by way of order processing on the OpenCampus GmbH. The Max-Planck-Gesellschaft as the controller has access to your data insofar as this is necessary for the application and recruitment process in line with the internal allocation of responsibilities. Your data will be reviewed by the Max Planck Society, by the International Max Planck Research School on Cellular Biophysics and those academic institutions who are involved in the selection and evaluation process of the International Max Planck Research School on Cellular Biophysics.
Duration of storage
In case of a successful application, we transfer your data into our management system. In the event of rejection, your data will be deleted at the end of the application procedure. The above mentioned Information processed for statistical reasons /evaluation purposes will be stored for a period of 5 years. These purposes also include our legitimate interest in data processing pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO which is the legal basis therefore.
